Sipadan Island: A Diver’s Paradise
Located in the Celebes Sea about 35 kilometers off the coast of East Malaysia on the island of Borneo, Sipadan is dubbed as the best diving spot in Malaysia and is one of the best there is in the world. It is the only oceanic island in Malaysia and is accentuated from the surrounding aqua-blue sea by its white sand beaches. Since it has become the Holy Grail among diving enthusiasts, only 80 divers can be permitted to stay per night. This move was made to ensure that marine and reef life in Sipadan will be secured. That is why it is highly recommended for tourists to book several weeks or months in advance since the island is always fully booked.
